Do not stand at my grave and weep. I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sun on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning's hush, I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry. I am not there, I did not die.

Into the woods and over the hills

"And into the forest I go, to lose my mind and find my soul."
- John Muir

I think I have always loved being out in the forest. The opportunity did not present itself very much when I was younger, living in a big city. The times it did, I loved it.

Several years ago, I was lucky enough to live with a forest stretching hundreds of kilometers barely 50 meters from my front door.

I used to rely on people who knew what they were doing and where they were going for my hikes. Recently, I started venturing off alone. I often spent a lot of time researching where to go and how to get there, and as much as I could around the route and conditions. A valuable source of information for me, other than official sites like national parks and local municipalities, has been private blogs. Ordinary people writing about their experiences.

In thanks to all the people who have inspired me with their stories and helped me with the information they shared, I pay it forward and hope that my experiences could inspire and help someone else create theirs.
